My Journey to Adam’s Peak ⛰️ 01

Sri Pada, or Adam’s Peak, is one of the most sacred mountains in Sri Lanka. For many years, I wanted to climb this beautiful mountain. Finally, last month, I went there with my friends. We chose the Hatton-Nallathanniya route because it is the most popular way.

We reached Nallathanniya in the evening. The air was very cold and fresh. We started our climb at midnight. Why midnight? Because we wanted to see the sunrise from the top. We carried small backpacks with water, energy snacks, and warm jackets.

There are thousands of stone steps. At first, it was easy, but after one hour, my legs started to feel tired. However, the atmosphere was amazing. There were many other pilgrims, from small children to very old grandmothers. Everyone was saying "කරුණාවයි, බුද්දන් සරණේ" to each other. This word gave us a lot of mental strength.

The path was decorated with white lights. From far away, it looked like a golden chain leading to the sky. We stopped at small shops to drink hot tea and eat "Roti." This helped us to stay warm in the freezing wind. Even though the climb was hard, the devotion of the people around us was very beautiful to see.
