Free Education in Sri Lanka

Today I want to write about something very important in our country. That is Free Education. In Sri Lanka, students can study from Grade 1 to University without paying money for classes.

We must remember Mr. C.W.W. Kannangara. He is the "Father of Free Education" in Sri Lanka. Because of his hard work, even poor children can go to school and become doctors, engineers, or teachers.

​In many countries, people have to pay a lot of money for University. But in Sri Lanka:

• ​Rich children and poor children study in the same school.

• ​The government gives text books and Exams for free.

• ​Students get school uniform materials every year.

• ​In some schools, children get a free meal too. 

It is free, we have some problems. Some schools in villages don't have good computers or science labs. Many students go to Tuition Classes because they are afraid of exams. This costs a lot of money for parents.

​Free education is a big help for us. We must protect it. If you are a student, you should study hard because the government is spending money on your future.
