Happy Women's Day 🚺

Today, March 8th, is a very special day. It is International Women's Day. On this day, we say "Thank you" to all the amazing women in our lives.

​Who are these Women?

​When we think about women, we think about many people:

• ​Our Mothers: Who love us and take care of us every day.

• ​Our Sisters: Who are our best friends.

• ​Our Teachers: Who give us knowledge to win the world.

• ​Our Doctors and Nurses: Who look after our health.

​Why is this Day Important?

​A long time ago, women did not have the same rights as men. They could not vote or go to school easily. But brave women fought for their rights. Because of them, today women can:

• ​Go to university and study.

• ​Do any job they like (Engineers, Doctors, Pilots).

• ​Lead countries and big companies.

In Sri Lanka, women do a lot of hard work. Think about the mothers who work in tea estates or factories. Think about the mothers who stay at home and look after the family. Every woman's work is valuable and important.

You don't need expensive gifts to celebrate this day.

• Respect: Listen to them and respect their ideas.
• Help: Help your mother or sister with their work.
• Kindness: Say a kind word or a simple "Thank you.
