May Day 🚩

Today i'm going to write one of special day it is May day because i write this note with i found some data on Google.May 1st, we celebrate International works day, also known as May day. This is a very important day for every person who works hard to build our world.

Why is May Day Important?

​A long time ago, people had to work for many hours, sometimes 12 or 15 hours a day. It was very difficult and they did not have any rest. But workers fought for their rights. Because of them, today we have:

• ​An 8-hour work day.

• ​Safe places to work.

• ​Holidays and rest days.

Who are Workers?

​Workers are everywhere!

• ​The farmer who grows our food.

• ​The teacher who teaches our children.

• ​The doctor who helps us when we are sick.

• ​The street cleaner who keeps our city beautiful.

• ​The office worker and the factory worker.

​Every job is important. No job is too small. We must respect everyone’s hard work.

​How We Celebrate in Sri Lanka

​In Sri Lanka, May Day is a public holiday. We see many parades and meetings in the city. People carry red flags and banners. They talk about workers' rights and how to make life better for everyone.

​Today, let’s say "Thank you" to someone who works for us. Maybe it is your mother, your father, or the person who brings you mail. A little respect makes a big difference.
