My Journey to Adam’s Peak ⛰️ 02

As we climbed higher, the wind became very strong. We reached the top (the summit) around 5:00 AM. It was very crowded, but everyone was quiet and waiting.

At the top, there is a small temple. This is where the sacred footprint is placed. For Buddhists, it is the footprint of Lord Buddha. People of other religions also believe it is a holy place. I felt a deep sense of peace when I reached the top. We rang the bell. There is a tradition: you ring the bell the number of times you have climbed the mountain. Since this was my first time, I rang it once.

Then, the most magical moment happened. The sun started to rise over the mountains. This is called the "Ira Sewaya." The sky turned orange, pink, and gold. We also saw the famous "Triangular Shadow" of the mountain on the opposite side. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. All my tiredness disappeared in one second.

Coming down was also a challenge for our knees, but we saw the beautiful green scenery around the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary. We saw waterfalls and many birds. By the time we reached the bottom, we were exhausted but very happy.

Climbing Sri Pada is not just a hike; it is a spiritual journey. It teaches us about patience and kindness. I will never forget this wonderful experience.
