Nadungamuwa Raja 🐘

 Did you remember my old blog posts?, you know one thing about me: I love elephants very much. They are my favourite animals. Today, I want to talk about a very special elephant who lived in Sri Lanka. His name is Nadungamuwa raja

Nadungamuwa Raja was not an ordinary elephant. He was the "Mangala hasthiya" that years. For many years, he carried the Sacred Tooth Relic in the Kandy Perahera. This is the highest honer for an elephant in our country.

He walked 90 km from Gampaha to Kandy. He did not like to travel in trucks. He loved to walk on the road.He was very tall and had beautiful, long tusks. When he walked, he looked very proud and calm.he was very kind and He was never violent because many peoples loved to him.

​As I mentioned before in my blog, elephants have a special place in my heart. So, when Nadungamuwa Raja passed away in 2022, I felt very sad. Finally now we can watch him body in museum colombo. 

​Sri Lanka is lucky to have such special animals. We must protect our elephants and love them. Raja is gone now, but he will always in my heart.
